Sustainable Cities Club is a student-led organization at The New School. We advocate for sustainability within the campus community and the New York City area. Students created the Sustainable Cities club as a platform for collaboration on a diversity of issues. Sustainability encompasses the notion that we must currently use resources to meet our needs, while working to preserve and restore natural endowments so that future generations can continue to provide for themselves.
Since our initiation, the Sustainability Cities club has worked closely with ReNewSchool and the Office of Sustainable Facilities and Management to host and organize events including a Sustainability Town Hall, film screenings, field trips to facilities including an organic farmers market and a municipal solid waste treatment facility, and outdoor excursions. Club members sit on the Earth Week planning committee, and the club reaches out to students and faculty for project ideas.
We welcome the committed and casual participation of students and faculty. Any and all our welcome to join and share their ideas!
